Woodworking Project: Workbench
Personal Project (Summer 2017)
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Build a workbench to be used for future woodworking projects, and get comfortable using various power tools

DESIGN:
Because my main objective for this project was to gain hands-on skills, I followed a design from Fine Woodworking that required some interesting joinery I wanted to try.
CONSTRUCTION:

2x4 side stretchers routed and drilled

A simple jig I made to route straight lines at the correct dimensions

Assembling table base with side stretchers

Joining side stretchers to legs with threaded rods and dowels

Table legs with threaded rods

Attaching tabletop to top stretchers with tabletop fasteners
SKILLS GAINED:
- Building a jig to make straight line router cuts
- Planning out and marking cuts
- Hands on assembly techniques & correcting for cutting mistakes
- Sanding and finishing wood

Finished workbench!
