Jenga Earthquake Table
NU Toys: Club Project (2017)
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Construct a randomly vibrating base table for a game to Jenga to increase the game's difficulty.
CONSTRAINTS:
Budget limited to $50. Due to fall e-board responsibilities I set myself a deadline to finish this project before 09/2017, leaving about one month to complete the first prototype.

Microfluidic Test System & Cartridges
Fikst: Client Development Project
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Design and build microfluidic mixing cartridges and an automated fixture to test them.
CARTRIDGE DESIGN:
- Iterated designs in Solidworks, using test results to guide changes
- Accelerated cartridge prototyping process by 25% through laminating laser cut acrylic layers.
FIXTURE DESIGN:
- Created a hydraulic system with controlled pressure drops and flow rates to move specified volumes of fluid within cartridges
- Controlled electrical components including valves, motors, pumps, buttons, and sensors
- Designed features to repeatably locate the cartridge, seal the system, and puncture the cartridge to deposit the mixed fluid

Cartridge test fixture
TESTING / TROUBLESHOOTING:
- Wrote Arduino code to maintain constant system pressure and control valves to transfer fluids as desired
- Tested to determine optimal pressures, flow rates, and timing to mix fluids in each type of cartridge
- Determined causes of unexpected behaviors that arose during testing through troubleshooting the system and the cartridges
SKILLS GAINED:
- Improved practical knowledge of fluid mechanics and hydraulic controls
- Furthered knowledge in electrical prototyping
- Writing organized, easily editable, Arduino code
- Effectively troubleshooting complex systems
- Mechanical knowledge of sealing fluid flow systems to prevent leaks
